    Motorcyle pursuit hit 113 mph

ANDERSON TWP. – A 43-year-old motorcyclist eluded deputies today after a 26-mile pursuit in which his motorcycle reached an estimated speed of 113 miles per hour.

The pursuit began at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday after a deputy attempted to stop a 1990 Harley-Davidson FXR for driving on a closed road on Eight Mile Road at Beechmont Avenue, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said this morning.

The motorcyclist refused to stop and fled north on Eight Mile Road. The pursuit continued on Clough Pike, Wolfangel Road and Ohio 125 in Clermont County where deputies discontinued the chase.

The motorcycle was spotted a short time later going east on Kellogg Avenue, north on Five Mile, east on Interstate 275, and west of Ohio 125. A sheriff’s helicopter took over the pursuit at that point after deputies in cruisers discontinued the pursuit.

The suspect abandoned the motorcycle in the 2000 block of Beechmont Avenue and ran away on foot.

    The pursuit lasted 21 minutes.

The suspect, who is still at large, has been identified as Philip Durchholz, of 1200 block of Eight Mile Road, the sheriff’s office said. He is wanted for fleeing and eluding, reckless operation, and driving on a closed roadway.

Anyone with information on Durchholz is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040 or the sheriff’s office at (513) 825-1500.

    Running on a Harley... pshhh.

I dont condone running from LEO's EVER, but at least do it with something else... something capable.

The story said the officers gave up the chase. It amazes me they stopped pursuit. Probably because that hog gets some good gas mileage, they woulda been chasing this guy around all day.

I agree. Why try to even run in a minivan or toyota corolla or something you know you have no chance of getting away in.

Well Harleys (you would be shocked) can get along rather quick (by a cars standards), they are just gobs of cc's upon cc's 900-1000-1100-1200-1300-1400cc's, its all there on Harleys... the only problem is they dont handle worth shyt, and have (engine) technology from 50+ years ago but they can reach ~120'sMPH... some into the 150region (really!), but the drivers just dont go that fast... first they would shake to death, second: often times they have little wind protection, 3rd (the key) They just dont handle and arent stable at those speeds. I mean your average road-going Harley is deffinantly not on par (performance wise) with your average sportbike, major performance Gap... but they can chug-a-lug decent if needed... of course you pay 20,000K for the little performance they give... but: A BIKE IS A BIKE.

But it sure sounds like he had one of the small Harleys ~800cc.

Anycase: Most road going sportbikes will certainly outperform road-going Harleys (motorwise... especially top end), and certainly handleing wise... and Sportbikes performance (as you said) is complimented by their F1 sounding exhaust, Harleys marginal (lacking) performance many have that coupled to (welll....lets not talk about Harleys exhaust). Again though a bike is a bike... better then a car hands down.

On a side Note: (I went on the Thursday-night run I always go on with my dad and a good amount of guys where we gather at a local bike shop ride for a hour then go to eat at the Dinosaur)... Anywho: I saw a BOSS HOSS with a small Block V8 in it tonight at the biker-bar we go to (DINOSAUR Bar-B-Que in Syracuse NY [if anyone knows of it])... that thing was wild.

Yup... exactly what I was saying, you have got to have the right equipment, and the above just isnt the right stuff, but some people still try.
