Another driver nabbed for going 100 mph on Loop 101

Scottsdale police arrested another driver suspected of speeding faster than 100 mph on the Loop 101.

Jessica Elizabeth Jaques, 19, was taken into custody early Friday morning and charged in connection to several separate incidents of criminal speeding, police said.

The arrest was Scottsdale's third of a suspected reckless Loop 101 driver since the city started regulating the 65 mph speed limit with speed cameras between Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard in January.

Another man was arrested earlier this month for blocking his face with his jacket to avoid photo enforcement speeding tickets on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Jaques was charged with several misdemeanors, including three counts of endangerment, three counts of reckless driving and seven counts of excessive speed.

The woman's speed varied from 76 to 107 mph in the incidents between Feb. 7-28, police said. Cameras captured the speeds.

Jaques also received one civil traffic violation.

In February, Scottsdale detectives arrested Patrick J. McCarville, 27, of Phoenix and Leslie Daven, 29, of Scottsdale, on suspicion of driving 110 mph on Loop 101.

Wow a gal speeding like that on the road... that thing must be a quick little drive.  These teenage girls are crazy these days.

The guy who covered his face: What a loon, I mean honestly not only is it (the camera) going to catch your LP #'s and get you anyways, but why cover your face when your speeding down the road... your asking for an accident.

Personally on my bike... I run a tinted/mirror shield so my face cant be seen, and we only have rear LP's.

Well, I can see why he covered his face, they arn't supposed to be able to get you if they can't identify the driver right?

Nope, you get the ticket anyways:
    What happens is this:

They get your LP, and run it through the database to see who owns the car. They take it to that person, and give you the old 'hey, here is your ticket'. If you try to say "well it wasnt me driving", they say... 'well thats fine, just tell us whom this ticket belongs to (who was driving at the moment) and we can hand them their ticket'. Then you either have to give up the person who was actually driving (if it really wasnt you speeding) so they get the ticket, or the LEO's just give you the ticket as the owner of the vehicle.

Well if you made up someone and they went to their house they would deny it too. So you are at a no win situation!

I know in DC you're not supposed to be able to be charged with anything, you just get your fine for the ticket... because they say they can't prove beyond any reasonable doubt that it is you, but you can be fined because they can prove it was your car and that's enough for just a fine. One thing about these people that they are arresting for 7 violations though: I know here in DC they will automatically wipe any charges you have if you have yet to receive your first ticket in the mail. This is because people argued (rightfully) that if these speed cameras are supposed to be to deter people from speeding, then you should at least give them the chance to be deterred... and you can't rack up fines for 30 days and then tell them you caught them.
