On fine days, the sand-surface average reflectivities of visible light channel and near infrared channel in the Tazhong region are 25.8% and 28.6% respectively. http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2004SPIE.5544..481Y
^ But keep reading - the variations between visible- and IR-reflectivity varies greatly, depending on the various factors documented/measured.
Without actually testing, in a quantitative manner, using true police LIDAR equipment on the variously treated/prepared plates, we just don't really know exactly how much correlation there is......
We're all currently just making inferences - and hoping that our efforts at reducing visible-light reflectivity also will impact not only overall IR-reflectivity, but most importantly, what the police LIDAR gun actually "sees."

After giving it some thought, Ive made questionable conclusions and Ill probably hold on to them until they're disproven.
It has more or less been tested that white vehicles give off a clearer reflection than dark ones. Throw some common sense in there and Id say if your eyes says its highly reflective, its highly reflective to laser. Personal conclusion? Visible light spectrum and IR behaves about the same, so cutting down on visual spectrum reflectivity is a noteworthy item on the list, if one plans to stealth their car.
Wonder if this means I shouldnt detail my car next Saturday? Dirt probably doesnt reflect at all.
i've been running a photocopy for about a good year now. the thing is, i have access to a photo minilab as opposed to a color laser copier does much better against fading than color toner, and has a much thicker paper stock

Don't you mean someone else is running with a papercopy

Great quality plate - how did you mount it? Im still trying to figure that part out as I dont want to just screw it on
Goto wal*mart and buy a BEL plastic plate cover. Glue the paper to cardboard and tape it where your plate goes, then put the plate cover on and no one's going to know it's a fake plate
