One question - if you had Blinder heads mounted front and rear, would this work with a Cheetah? If you put the Blinder control box under the hood, you would still need to pass the rear heads' line(s) through the firewall, right?

yeah, unless you did a separate box at the rear, you would need to get the heads to the front black box somehow.

What's the potential risk of someone coming out with a Cheetah detector for LEOs to use in jammer-illegal regions? Obviously it's wireless, so it transmits a signal. Is it a proprietary signal/frequency or is it industry standard such as WiFi or Bluetooth?

    hmmm... good question.
i doubt it would be an issue, due to cost to make a unit, and get LEO's to buy it for just that.
it's not bluetooth, it's WiFi of some kind., not sure of freq. off hand.

i'll check. my guess is it falls within other areas, so it would be hard to find in the background noise.

i could see a big antenna on the LEO's dash.

    it's a Cheetah/STI/Navalert/Radar detector/Cell phone antenna.

    Zero risk.

We use a short range radio frequency that's industry standard for automotive applications pretty much all around the world. (433 MHz)

There are so many other automotive uses for the standard, any such imaginary detector would be a completely unusable product. It would be alerting every time somebody opened a car door with their remote key-fob and would drive the user nuts with falses. Some cars now even have wireless tyre pressure sensors which use the same frequency to communicate with your dash display.

Theoretically I guess it's possible - anything is possible! But in practical terms it just ain't going to happen. No RDD manufacturer would waste their time.

Kpatz, forgot to say - good question! I liked the way you were thinking about the product.

    Roy,

Just read your report on the Blinder instal. Nice job - shows how easy it is for anyone to do. Makes it ideal for lease cars as well because there's no trace when you remove the Blinder to hand the car back.

Now we'll need to see if anyone out there can beat your time!

Congratulations on your first Cheetah sale.
