....last week while traveling on one of florida's interstates i met the acquaintance of a florida state trooper and we got along so well that we exchange paperwork (no, i wasn't a smart a$$ or anything!). she got my license and insurance and registration and i got a traffic ticket...$*&^(&%#^%&U!!
.....while radar was running heavy over the holidays, i was running 68 in a 70 and all was cool. with my v1 having a nervous breakdown from mostly all directions, i observed a "low slung" vehicle bearing no light bar in the left lane moving in at a fast rate. well, i knew what/who is was and was not concerned as i was doing the straight and narrow.
....."SHE" (yes, a female) hung back in the left lane with me in center for about 15 seconds and then exercised a "masculine envy maneuver" and got literally 1 car length behind me at 68mph. had i been driving any other car then my vette, i WOULD have abruptly applied the brakes causing her to rear end me and then let the chips fall where they may (oh, by the way, she had no "official" lights on).
.....she "lit me up" and of course, i pulled over. she asked for my paperwork for our "date" and i inquired as to why she "yanked" me (grin). she had indicated that my clear plastic plate cover was not legal in florida and most likely in most other states as well as ANY "trim plate" that goes around your plate. she had also indicated that ANY plate cover was for off road use only. now, this leads me to ask myself as to why a license plate would be needed for off road use anyway!!
.....so, i had the opportunity to give her my autograph and be on my way with 3 choices according to "her". 1) PAY $77 to the courts and leave it on or, 2) opt for a court hearing and court date and drive an hour from home to wit she might not show up to begin with or, 3)...pay $7.50 to the courts and be done with it (no points)...
...let's see, that is a hard choice!..$77 of $7.50??...i'll have to think on that one a few more days (grin).
.....well, the clear flexible plastic cover was for photo cameras which will obliterate half the plate number if viewed from an angle greater then maybe 35* . so, i will probably put it back on and take my chances. just an fyi to everybody out there!
