Thumbs up Ordered my C100 today

I used to have a NAVALERT. I was very disappointed with it and returned it in less than a month's time. Mine arrived reading KPH instead of MPH, the altimeter that was an original feature of NAVALERT didn't work at my altitude (5000 feet), it was slow locking on to satellites, and the settings kept changing every time I turned it on.

Anyway, what I really needed/wanted was a duplicate of the NAVALERT-style dashmounted detector that actually worked. Sure glad Cheetah saw the light and came out with the C100. I ordered mine today and beat the factory price by $20. I won't post where I got it, don't want to violate any of the forum rules, but if you are interested PM me and I'll give you the link. I can hardly wait to get my C100. My speedometer has been broken for a couple of months, and it will be nice to know how fast I am really going Plus an upcoming trip to northern New Mexico means I'll be heading through red light camera areas. So I'll be protected.

One comment I noticed on the Radarbusters feedback area concerning the Chettah mirror, was that when using a link with a radar detector, the mirror lagged badly with reporting the detected radar source, and sometimes no report was issued at all. I'm not real concerned, I don't plan on using the radar detector link. But I wondered if anyone else experienced this situation?

If I remember correctly, the only reason that customer experienced a lag was because he did not have the radar detector menu set up in the correct way. The Volume settings in particular are crucial and must be set up as we describe in the manual that comes with the Radar Detector Interface.

Well that's good to know. I may go with the radar interface at some future date, and I'm glad it's working properly

Thanks for bringing that comment to my attention. I hadn't actually seen it.

If the person who wrote the comment it is reading this can you please get in touch with us for some more support. The interface for the X50 works brilliantly and you should not be experiencing any lag. From what you've written, you just need to adjust the volume slightly up or down and it will cure any lag.

In general the advice for Beltronics and Escort detectors is this:

    1. Detector is set to quick start

    2. Volume level is set between 75% to 90%

    3. Auto Mute is switched off

    4. Voice alerts are switched off

In addition there are extra little tweaks for each individual model of detector.

The X50 for example has to have the AudioTones set for Standard. The mistake that some people make with the X50's set up is that they leave the AudioTones set for high, and this throws everything off.

With the Valentine 1 RDI, there are not the same volume setting requirements like there are with Bel and Escort RDIs.

Talking Re: Ordered my C100 today

Well UPS says my shipment is on time and should arrive on Monday the 20th. Man am I jacked up about this!!!!!

Hey Ally...the stuff to hook the V1 up to the C100....is it the same thing as used on the GPS mirror?

BTW...I've noticed that along with the road "improvements" in my town, a lot of stoplights now have cameras installed on them. I asked the Chief of Police in Silver City (he's a pal of mine) if they were stoplight cameras. He said no, they were for traffic control at intersections. Then I asked if they could be converted or used for stoplight cameras...he didn't know. Is there any way of knowing from their external appearance if they are, or might be, stoplight cameras? I can take pics of them and post them.

The interfaces are exactly the same for both our GPS detectors. Just order the one for the V1, but remember you need an extra adaptor if you use a V1 remote display.

Those cameras are just state DOT cameras that do exactly what the police chief said. They can't be converted so don't worry.

For more on Red light cameras check out the camera guide on SpeedCheetah.com - needs some updating but it's a great start.

    cell21633: They are definitely cameras.

Ally: I hope you're right about the cameras. I don't worry much about them since I don't even run yellow lights, much less red ones. But a lot of people in my town do run the reds quite often. So it wouldn't surprise me if they installed a red light camera. Thanks for the info on the interfaces. I don't plan on one right away. But nice to know that the mirror one is the same thing. I'll see if I can get a pic of the cameras and post it tomorrow.

    Deputy -

Like allyoops said above, and as your own city's official was so forward in offering the information, indeed, there are such traffic-monitoring/control cameras in-use, in many metro areas as well as surrounding suburbs.

As you may know, Metro-Cleveland and its near suburbs see a decent amount of red-light and speed-on-green camera usage, but we also have these monitoring/control devices at various high-incident/high-congestion/emergency-clearance traffic intersections.

TSi: I guess it depends on whether you believe the governemt always tells the truth
I didn't get out today, but tomorrow I'll get pics of them. Maybe someone can identify them more accurately.
