Default LPP Wireless Unit Stopped Working

Today as I was driving, I started hearing my wireless unit beep as if I had just started the car. This continued and became erratic until I was only hearing a single beep occasionally. I also observed that only the power (red) led was coming on and flickering at best. I don't think the LPP is failing and that this means there's a wiring problem with the Cheetah kit but wanted to put it out there for any thoughts and feedback. I don't have a circuit tester but feel this would be the first thing to use to check connections.

Hi, It sounds like a power supply issue to the in-car warning unit. Please check the cable is plugged into the cigarette lighter socket firmly. The power cord may also have a sliding switch on it, so please check this also.

You can check the transmitter section by looking at the LED on the cable that plugs into the LPP interface box - it should be flashing green normally, then flashing red during a parking sensor alert.

If the green led is still pulsing, the power cord fixed in correctly and the switch fully on.... then I had a similar problem a few months ago when I moved the receiver unit and ended up driving with my knee banging against the unit when I went 'round bends.

I don't know what the gold button on the top does but when I pushed the it down for about 2 seconds everything died or went mad, when I did it for 5 seconds, everything started working again.

Perhaps madness on my part, but it fixed the problem.

Must read manual at some point.

As we've said repeatedly before, (and as it says in the manual) DO NOT PRESS THE GOLD BUTTON.

In wireless fitting kits, the gold button does absolutely nothing. It is only used when that little warning unit is wirelessly linked up with a completely different product that is not sold in the USA. It is not a test button and it does not "make the wireless link work"

The Red LED light in the warning unit is only to let you know that the in-car warning unit is getting power. That's all, nothing more. It does have anything to do with any parts in the engine bay or the wireless link.

Scrapser, if I recall your set up correctly you had the in-car warning unit hardwired inside the car somewhere. From what you're describing you need to check that wiring job because it sounds like you have a loose connection in the power supply going to the in-car warning unit. Can you please check the wiring and report back.

    Thanks,
    Al

I spliced the power off the cigarette lighter using splicer connectors. I have heard they can fail over time and will check them and the connector plug that slides onto the prongs on the back of the lighter. I will also play with the gold button if that doesn't set things right. I will also check the transmitter light as well. But right now it is freezing cold in Maryland so I probably won't get to this until after Christmas when it's supposed to warm up a bit.

    Thanks for the intel.

Just saw the last post...I will NOT touch the gold button.

I'd already been pressing the gold button with my knee for about an hour when it went titsup, so I figured more pressing of the Button of Gold might help.

I solemnly promise never to press the gold button again.
