I love how the cheetah mirror and RD interface quiets my detector to only the nessecary alerts.
I've got Cheetah's city mute on and it's low speed mute set at 25mph. I also use the auto mute on my Bel STi, which mutes after a few seconds.
Here is the quietness breakdown....
K or X, low speed...quiet! (cheetah low speed mute active)
X, K, and pop Ka, high speed: pleasant voice warning...then quiet (Cheetah City mute kicks in).
Real Ka: pleasant verbal, couple seconds of beeps...then quiet. (Bel auto mute kicks in.)
Logic: when I get a only verbals, I view the Sti quickly for signal strength growing; its usually false, and STi goes clear and I ignore. And it's quiet!
The occasional real K, Bel strength is holding/growing so I know to slow soon, but have plenty of time, and it's quiet!
I know to really perk up when I hear the couple follow-up beeps that go w/ ka.
My ride is nearly beepless, unless it's the urgent alert (ka), and even then that mutes that after 3 seconds and all is quiet again.
My wife doesn't have the cheetah, as it won't work w/ her updated Bel Sti; driving her car drives me crazy now that I'm used to the quietness of my system.
I would estimate that 85% of uneeded noise is cut out by the Cheetah system. And I'm still ticketless after 18 months with this setup, and 1hr/day of speeding (work commute).
That is why I love the Cheetah and how it quiets my ride.
