It looks pretty hard to defeat, except for hiding your plates.

Of course you could spray paint the lenses, shoot them with BB guns, or cut some wires...but that wouldn't be sporting.

Forget Radar detectors for those type of camera systems. They're nothing to detect.

The only way to warn in advance of inductive loops or Piezo strips is to have a GPS device which can warns you when you are approaching the GPS location. Then you have to have the location stored in a database which you've either got to build up yourself / find for free on the internet / pay a commercial company for downloading their database. That's what's going to be needed more and more in the US over the next few years.

This is how a lot of speed cameras in Europe work and it's why we've had GPS Alert Systems on the European Market for almost 6 years. The funny thing now is that it's now going full circle. GATSO will use radar to project a "virtual" induction loop over the road surface so authorities don't even have to dig up the roads to bury inductive loops or piezo strips (at least these will be detectable.)

THe problem with that methodology is it's a defeatist attitude. What happens when the technology realizes economies of scale and the cameras/sensors are cheap enough to put in every stoplight in a municipality? Do you just drive slower?

Thankfully speed camera manufacturers tend to charge quite a lot of money for their products so it will be a long time before that happens.

GPS definitely works well for that kind of camera system. It's great for fixed cameras, particularly the ones like the Red light camera in the US, provided the database is good. But it still doesn't replace the need having a decent RD and Jammer for all the mobile traps over here.

If you want to read about the real nightmare scenario, do a google search on "Intelligent Speed Adaption" and take a look at some of the safety trials in Holland and Sweden. If the European safety beaurocrats ever get their wish, under that ISA system the car you're driving would know the speed of the road you're driving on at any one time and would physically prevent you from being able drive faster than the speed limit. Big brother is definitely out there waiting in the wings. At least you guys over there would never stand for something like that.

Thank god it takes car manufacturers so long to introduce new technologies so hopefully it will all never get off the ground anyway!

All it'll take is someone being killed because they are unable to accelerate out of trouble or because their car preventing them from overtaking before the oncoming truck and the experiment will be over.

Now, GPS loggers that download their data whenever you fill up - that'll be a speed killer.

ive always wondered to myself that if some of these red light cameras installed aboved the traffic light are fake? theres a red light camera above the traffic light where i live near my neighborhood. i was coming back from work and was stuck at the traffic light for about 5 minutes. it was 11pm and the road was absolutely desserted. its a farmroad what can you say. but i swear i was stuck at the redlight for 5mins. so i basically turned left on the red light.. months later i didint get no ticket or w.e. also i was in the same situation but a different neighborhood. red light stayed on for 5 mins and it was about 8pm no cars or pedistrians or nething. so i ran the light and months later..no ticket. if i did, i would fight it seeing the damn light did not work. but still...have you ever wondered if some of these cameras could be fake?
