I thought I would take a moment here and talk about Anti IR coatings and the search for a cheap and easy way to to coat lenses and other surface with an IR absorbing material.
Now Keep in mind this is about the budget minded person looking to reduce their
reflectivity, and as I am really good at figuring these sorts of things out. I figure why not delve into this field as well to cover the whole gamut of budget solutions. to go along with the Budget transponder.
There are a number of dyes out there that are IR absorbing. and one of them is used in the laser printing industry. But before we go down the line of exotic materials I hope to get a sample of various other retail solutions and under testing compare some of the simple solutions and see how they fare.
Since I have at my disposal the tools for testing, Ir sources and ways to observe the results. I think there will be a few surprises along the way. however I will first try something as simple as a carbon black based dye. Applied with an airbrush., I cannot see any reason why this could not work. While not as exotic as an organic or metal complexes. It could work as a solution.
Stay tuned as the madness continues.!
