    Default C100 Kills Laptop

When I got the C100 last summer, I installed the program into my home computer (Windows XP) and my laptop (Vista). I have done a couple of updates using the home computer and I believe but am not positive that I had done at least one on the laptop.

Today I went to do an update using the laptop. After getting online, I connected the USB cable from the C100 to the laptop and started the update using the auto feature. The system said No GPS on port 1 and maybe went to port 2 (I wasn't watching very closely). Suddenly I got a nasty blue screen with a ton of white printing saying that something bad was happening, to uninstall any new program. I quickly disconnected the C100 and the laptop shut itself down and then restarted itself.

    What's happening?

Trying again should not do any harm to my laptop? We're out of town and losing the laptop would be a real problem.

    Hi,

Please ensure that the USB driver is installed before plugging in the C100 unit. You can download the driver software and updater from our website - How to Upate the C100 under Database Updates

All of that was installed last summer, so something else is going on. I'll wait until we get home before working on this, don't want to take any chances with the laptop while on a trip.

    Thanks for the replies.

There are times where drivers have to be uninstalled and reinstalled again.

Will the C100 software work in a computer that is running Windows 7?
I'm thinking of converting our home PC (XP) and laptop (Vista) both to Windows 7, that would simplify a lot of things.

But only if the Cheetah system will work with Windows 7.
