I'm looking at this one as well. From everything I've seen and heard about it, it's a good one.

man these prices are killing me

i've seen the cheap ones on fleabay and of course they don't have the GPS functionality, but they are often smaller.

in my perfect set up (which i'm trying to figure out) i'd have a very stealth install (preferably everything behind the RVM), it runs on its own all the time, it imprints GPS, and, this is far fetched, but it would be cool to be able to have it motion sensor activated so i could spin it around at the dealership, or wire in a second camera in the future.

    and all this for <$100

    any ideas?

I'm looking to do something similar but per usual, I'm looking to do something a bit more stealth. Going to put a small camera with a microphone into the rearview mirror, just need to find a solid DVR solution.

i wish i could do that. i have auto-dimming and am very hesitant about cutting into it and risking an influx of evil black goo going everywhere. i was really surprised at how expensive DVR's are! i may just use one of the old laptops and stick in it in the trunk, maybe let it evolve into a car-pc eventually

If any of you guys are running Android phones, check out DailyRoads Voyager. It loops video/audio and overwrites the old files. It doesn't overlay speed, date/time, or position on the video though.

Another option is Ployd BlackBox, but video quality is absolutely terrible.

Iphone has some other blackbox type of apps as well.

I've also got auto-dimming and as we speak my mirror is sitting on my desk completely apart. I am sending the glass out to be laser etched for my radar and laser jammer alerts. It looks like I've got enough room to use a very small ccd board camera to rill a small hole for the lens.

I will be sure to post pictures of it once it's done, and maybe even a few images of it in the interim.
