Strangely, the only audible alerts I'm getting are "Danger, car stopped on shoulder ahead". It says nothing about LEOs, just puts an icon on the screen. Perhaps it has something to do with settings which I'll check out after the coffee has kicked in ;-))

Police alerts are direction sensitive. If someone tagged the police heading in the other direction, you won't receive an alert. That's probably why you can see the police icon, but get no warning.

I just installed Waze on my iPhone4 and man is it slick! I have a feeling this is going to be the next big thing' on the social network. Glad I read about here before I almost purchased the Garmin 3590. As someone else mentioned, the V1/SAVY with Waze is one heck of a package.

I run Waze normally alongside my V1. I'm a beta tester, Area Manager of several places in Michigan, and Waze Royalty. I have had more than enough saves with Waze. Regardless of it's few broken Navigation issues (which lies in the map people edit) Waze is an amazing tool coupled with the V1, that I prefer over Escort Live.

Not sure Waze is better than Escort Live ... it has more users but EL has lockouts and auto uploads of Ka and Laser hits if using it with a detector.

If Escort Live is developed properly (big if) it could integrate the things Waze does well. However, Waze will never have lockouts and auto alert uploads.

I run Waze in the foreground and Escort Live in the background. They complement each other very well.

Just downloaded yesterday evening. Looking forward to seeing if Texas has any big user base.

Is there a website that gives a Waze tutorial or preview for the Iphone 4S?
Or can someone give a simple explanation here? I'm wondering how useful Waze would be for radar/laser, considering that I don't want to be peering at the small phone screen while driving. Maybe I'd be willing to look at the screen after an audio alert, but needing to look at the screen to get the initial alert is more distraction than I want.

    Thanks!

I ahve used Waze in PA for a long time. I am number 221 in the state. My brother uses waze on an Iphone 5. He does not look at it unless he gets an audible alert, which usually is at 1800 feet. Plenty of time to slow unless your doing triple digits. I myself usually get an alert from Waze before my detector makes a peep. My recommendation is to try it out. Once you use it you won't leave home with out it. As for tutorials and hints visit the waze web site. You may consider some sort of mount for your phone so you can glance at it from time to time without fiddling with it while you drive.
