Last night my friend and I were pulled over by a cop who noticed my liscense plate didn't look quite right. We are both 21 but he was driving because I had 2 drinks; he had nothing to drink. It went something like this:
Cop: "How are you doing tonight? That's a pretty funny liscense plate you got. You know that's illegal right?"
Me: "Oh, you think so?"
Cop: "Yeah I think so." * Cop points to my V1. * "As a matter of fact, that thing is illegal too."
Me: "No it's not. Radar detectors are legal in PA."
Cop: "Oh yeah, who told you that?"
Me: "Well, for one thing, my lawyer told me that."
Cop: "Oh, well who is your lawyer?"
Me: "Attorney ---- is his name."
Cop: "Oh, well he is just a DUI attorney. He probabily doesn't know anything about traffic laws."
Me: "Well apparently he knows a lot more then you."
Then the cop got pissed and went back to his car. He then came back and told he I had to remove the plate cover or he was going to write me a ticket. So I did. Then he asked me where I got it. I told him I ordered it online from radar roy, and that radar roy is a former police officer. He said something like "I doubt that, he probabily just claims to be one." Then he took the plate, put it in his car and refused to give it back. I took his name and badge number.
Then he came back to the car and said that he could probabily arrest my friend for DUI, since he was "borderline." My friend then said he had no drinks whatsoever. Then the cop asked what kind of collogne he was wearing, to which he replied "I don't wear collogne." Then he asked me if I had been drinking. I said "No sir. But I'm wearing nautica collogne, it sure smells beautiful doesn't it!" At that point he had enough and just let us leave. "See ya later rookie!"
It sucks that the cop stole my superprotector. Was cop was legal in just taking it like that?
