    Default Rubbing off my license plate numbers

    I just got brand new CA plates. The plates are white with dark blue numbers.

    Now. I just used ultra fine sandpaper to rub off one of the numbers. I'm about to douse it in Photoblocker and here is my question:

    Will the photoblocker work better with dulled numbers (which are still legal ) ? It shoudl make it harder for the camera to read if thier is less contrast right?

    Photoblocker doesn't work during the day, even if the camera does use a flash. Your best bet is using the best radar detector and gps detector money can buy. Sprays no longer work against the new cameras. Sorry.

    Dulled numbers is not legal;

    California Vehicle Code
    4464. No person shall display upon a vehicle a license plate
    altered from its original markings.
    This is the same Vehicle Code that makes 'restoration' of license plates illegal.

    I thought about mounting a large ball type trailer hitch right in front of my rear plate. I figure that could help obscure a few numbers from any cameras. I also drive with my tailgate down and have removed my front plate.

    Depending on your state this may still be illegal, I know in texas though they put language that made it(trailer hitch balls) specifically NOT illegal, as it's not "intended" to obscure the plate.

    Missouri is rolling out new plates in 2009. I was wondering about the sandpaper thing too. I wonder how deep the reflective material goes in the metal also how deep the white reflective material goes. Sanding lightly may help but I wonder how much.
