well iv had my lic. plate cover for over4 months. Now where i live there are no red light cameras. I just use it for travel cause i do go out the state a lot.

I seen many stuff on youtube, and even myth busters where they tested the lic plate cover and render it useless. Im wondering, how many people actually have one and know they have ran a red light and no ticket was received.

Id like to do my own test with my own camera, but the crappy little canon i have wont match the system that these company's use.

also quick question, does red light cameras use radar or lidar?

Here in the US, such systems use radar.

It depends on where you live as well. some places use laser, others radar, and others like AZ, use strips embedded in the road, so you need GPS for them.

out here, the plate covers don't work, as the cameras also do video.

The newer dual flash systems makes them less effective.

In Philadelphia, they're fine.

In Toronto area we have 57 RLCs, all of them taking pictures ONLY of any MV that enters the RLC intersection AFTER the light has turned red, so no radar and no laser for our RLC system

so with LIDAR. If you have a LI will that jam it and not take the picture?

Also with dual flash and shots. What i dont get is the angle is still so sharp that how does it still get a read on it? Unless they are moving to diffrent angels that can read them. That is the only thing i could see them doing. Just because its a double flash or double shot shouldn't render the plate ineffective. Right????
