    Default Partial Plates?

    Hi Folks.

Question... I'm looking into getting a super protector for my car since in my area there are tons of these damn speed and redlight cams going up.

The superprotector looks like it basically messes up half of the plate depending on which side the cam is on. My question is this: What about partia l plate lookups? On shows like law and order, often a partial plate is enough to identify a car.

    For example.

Lets say I'm in a state with 6 digit plate#s.

Lets say my plate is ABC123

If the cops can see ABC... then with a database search, they should be able to narrow me down to one of up to several thousand possible cars. If they include the make and year of my car in the search, then they should be able to nail be based on this partial.

has anyone on here been saved by the superprotector that roy sells? Any opinions?

And no, I'm not looking for the photo radar flash jammer thing I'm just looking for passive.

I know what you mean. The partial plate blockers are useless for us with custom plates.

Can partial plate be used to ticket? When you get the ticket in the mail it wouldn't show the whole plate, so how could they 'prove' it was you?

Well thats a mater of technical.

Lets say you drive a Mercedes with ABC123 as the plate.

Lets say they only see 123 on the photo.

They can do a database search for all cars with 123 as the last three digits, then the can narrow it down further by make.

If you have a custom plate, the chances drop even further.

Partial plates can be looked up to some degree. If you have ABC 123, and I am looking and see ABC I could do a search with a good description of the vehicle. Now if you are driving a Red 1991 Ford escort, and it is the only one possible it would be an easy ticket. Now if your partial read brought up 40 matches I would not waste my time. Not for a red light or a in town speed. I would not waste my time anyways unless it was fast enough to revoke.

Knock on wood, but partial plates should never be used merely for ticketing due to the fact that someone else might just be mis-using a plate that's half like the partial on a similar looking car. This holds even if there's only one currently REGISTERED partial-match.
