The LEOs around here (MN and WI) are going CRAZY with laser guns lately - even down to the county level. How do I tell which type they have? Is there some way to ID them - pictures, are the profiles visually different, usage methods etc?

From left to right:
Stalker LZ-1
LTI Ultralyte
Kustom Prolaser III
Laser Atlanta
There's also a couple of older guns out there, but these are getting fewer as departments upgrade:
Marksman (older "20/20" looks about the same)

Prolaser II

We'll I'm getting lucky in my requests here! Thanks a lot you guys.
Now, another one -
Which would be the ones that the MN and WI state troopers have? Also, which one would a county most likely purchase?
The reason I ask is that I have a blinders M-20 installed. I have been getting hit - literally - every day with Laser. The M-20 seems to be handling it and I see (and hear) them targeting other cars (My M20 doesn't go off, but my V1 does).
So, since there are differences from the GOL testing that vary strongly from gun mfg to gun mfg, I'm really interested to figure out what i think they are using. If it is in the sweet spot for jamming - great! If not, maybe I need to think about updating my countermeasures.

Well I know in MN they use LTI's and ProLaser III's.
But it is only what i have seen.
This could help.

Our Leo's are using a lot of laser with camera. Sometimes it looks like the camera is attached to the side of the laser gun. Some look they are built as 1 unit. Any idea what the 1 unit type is?Quote:

do we know if any of ? these camera capable unit have IR capabilities?
I tsure would be nice to verify where the beam weas reflecting from if in court. I would prefer it actually. it would virtually stop inaccurate targetting and keep the innocent from being wrongly accused.
i don't think these do, and i personally hope that they never do.
this would make it easy to see jammers, especially at night.
that and from the testing i've seen and done, unless the scope is way off, these things are pretty accurate.
Also it takes a picture from the HUD so it shows where the crosshair is aiming at the time of the lock.
i watched SML do some testing of this. in fact somewhere i have the pic of the vehicle i was using at the time.
I wonder if one can get an adapter like that for a Pro Laser II. It would be neat to be able to take pics thru the HUD. I might have to fabricate something. If I can hook it to the video camera, that would be even better. ;)
Kustom has something called a Lasercam II, which is probably what's pictured above. It's just a PL III with a camera adapter and digital camera.
As for IR capability, I suppose you could put a Sony camera with Nightshot mode on the lidar gun, but it would only be effective at night since otherwise the ambient light would wash out the beam.
