All you would need to do is read the reviews of the Bel RX65 and the reviews would be pretty much the same. According to Bel it is the same detector. However Bel will not provide upgrades to the software on Vector units. One other item, we have noticed at least on the model we tested, that the filtering was just below that of the RX65.
thx. But why would somebody buy a RX-65 when the Vector 995 ist almost the same? There is quite a price difference??!
I wonder why they don't provide the Vector 995 with upgrades but claim on their web site that it is upgradable.
I take that back, it appears that Bel is now offering the software upgrades per their website
how does such an update work? And are there any available?
Complete the warranty card and mail it in. When an upgrade is offered they will notify you by mail and/or e-mail with instructions on how to obtain the upgrade
The "only" upgrade Beltronics seems to offer.....is buy a new unit.
Bel advised me that their entire Vector series is not upgradeable to deal with POP radar. I have a 985 and after 2 years of ownership not one upgrade. When I have contacted Bel all I got was........yada yada yada.....every time.
That is one of the few things that I do miss about Valentine One. They had AWESOME customer service support. I remember when I upgraded from v1.7 to v1.8 (I called them the other day to check and see what version I had a year ago and they verified v1.8 w/ no pop). it cost $200 and it took a few days to get it back. Darn it if it was not for the falsing issue I would go back in a SECOND. When I think about it though a HARDLY EVER kept it on Advance Logic mode. I did keep it on Logic but not Advance Logic because I was always afraid of sacrificing performance.
If it costs 200 to upgrade, you could have sold the 1.7 on ebay for $300 and paid another 400 for a new one!
Yeah I know
