Which laser jammer to buy?
I am saving money to buy a laser jammer to add to my Bel RX65 and Uniden BCT-12 for my car. I have been getting hit with laser more often especially in Maryland. I probably would have gotten a ticket if my dark sportscar did not have flip down headlights, no front license plate, a flat black bra, dull black foglight covers, no grill, and no shiny metal exposed on the front anywhere. The RX65 has gone off three times before I saw the cop shooting the gun (once over a small hill!) presumably from reflections off cars in front of me in moderately heavy traffic. All three times I immediately jammed the brakes and blended with traffic. I saw before my eyes as many as four cruisers chase down people who I was just spending with. I also saw a lone lidar cop sitting on the side of the road shooting cars in the front who were speeding in the left lane. He then hopped in his cruiser and started rolling on the shoulder in preparation to chase down his victim. These nerve-racking and heart-pounding experiences have made me decide it is time for more than passive lidar countermeasures!
At first I considered the Escort Shifter ZR3 and the Bel Laserpro 905. I have since changed my mind since I do not believe either unit will protect me from the Stalker LZ1 or the Laser Atlanta unit in stealth mode at least according to this link.

This may explain why people with these units are still getting tickets with laser as well as the fact that the unit's detector may not have been hit by the laser beam or the vehicle was targeted at very close range. I was just about sure I was going to buy a Blinder X-treme when I discovered a product called the laserkiller. The blinder has received excellent reviews and is no doubt an awesome product; however, the laserkiller seems more powerful and is on all the time. I was unable to find any tests of the unit's performance officially or unofficially. If the laserkiller works as well as it is claimed to by the manufacturer, it would jam all guns 100% of the time every time without depending on a laser detector to activate the system. The two products are about the same cost. This would be a good product for Radar Roy and SML to test against US lidar guns in the future. The one thing I worry about is the longevity of the laser jammers on the laserkiller. I would definitely rig an on/off switch and only cut it on when I decide to exceed the speed limit though. The other thing is that the blinder has a computer that analyzes the signal and then fires back the appropriate jamming signal for that particular model of lidar gun. I assume that the laserkiller just completely blinds the gun sort of like pointing it at the sun or other intense infrared light source.
If anyone has more information or advice please respond.
Re: Which laser jammer to buy?
jbird,
Looked at the product you just mentioned...
Do you have $300 to throw away?
Maybe someone can buy it and get JTW to test it!
