never had one, however, there are going to be times that you don't get the greatest range. It really depends on the suituation.
There have been times were I got 1.5 miles on Ka and then other times .25 miles. Trees, hills, etc can really affect the sensetivity of your RD. I would play around with it a bit more before you make your final decision on the return.
I do believe that the 995 will give you more range though. Of course, it is $100 more too.
995
right. ive had every brand of rd and ive had the v1, and x50. i went to a normal place i go to test range, the x50 and v1 gave me over 2 miles everytime on this spot and this time i went, there was hardly anything in the way, and only .5 miles. i understand about the variables, i think im just gonna return it and get an rx65.
Wait, because it may even go worse...
I have Beltronics Target 550 which is the EU version of the 995
During three years this self cal was a nightmare until the other day when something went wrong with this self cal and now the unit is dead - it gives the error message after start. Over 500 dollars wasted - as it's out of warranty - noobody can help me out - at Beltronics europe they call it: 'unrepairable'.
So tired of this self- whatever they call the fancy high tech units feature - and looking for something reliable amongst other brands.
I will soon put a video link so that everybody can see what happens to a high end Beltronics unit when it goes wrong...because they do go wrong
Are you sure that the 550 is same as 995? Can you post a link to the 550 manual?
i had an rx 65 and it is junk save you'r money and get a v1
Rx-65 and v995 are said to be the exact same detection range and internal antenna. ~Beltonics Rep said.
As for .5 a mile. that is pretty normal, wheter it be a Rx-65,Sti,V1,X50.
Keep in mind. Curves,Hills,Obsatcles significantly have an affect on the detection range. The 4 = mile detection reports are on highways where it is a straight road and hardly any obstacle. Any RD user who says different is full of $hit.
With my Rx-65,V1,X50 i have recieved alert only .3-.4 miles away. Its called instant-on.
Same as a 990i...Quote:

Bel's quality, OTOH, seems to be a universal concern regardless of model.
