Does anyone want to give me a picture/description/review of the Pro-78's included non-slip dashpad thing? I'm having a tough time imagining how something like that could possibly keep a radar detector in place.

Think of an extra sticky mouse pad...more gel like than foam. Mine holds my iPod in place-
Does that help at all? :?
That's what it sounded like to me... the rubbery grip stuff. Does that really work well enough to trust a radar detector with it?
How quickly do you turn  When I used the Whistler dashpad with my X50 (didn't want to take off the suction cups) the X50 didn't fall. The only problem I was having was keeping the X50 pointed straight ahead. Then again, this was a rather rounded dash, so not all the X50 was on the pad.
I never saw how those things would really work. At least not with the way I drive. I wouldn't worry about things sliding, but flipping as I pull a corner hard or take off from a stop. Because of that, they are useless for me.
LOL I'll stick to windshield mounting and the occasional velcro then :D
my co-worker uses one. Says it is amazing. Can take quick turns and everything stays put. I would imagine that a few good bumps would be the only thing to get stuff to move.
I wouldn't so much be worried about the falling part, what about reception, wouldn't the awkward angle of most dashboards cause a serious drop in effectiveness? I dunno, maybe I'm just anal, but I have got to have perfect level/straight on my mounting, I have mine in the middle of the windshield. I will probably buy the hardwire kit sooner or later and install it under the RVM sometime.
Well in a nutshell, it gives your detector an awesome view of the windshield wipers :)
My dashboard is pretty level....Quote:
