Radar Units on Road construction signs in OK??
I recently went on a trip from MN to TX and was suprised to see the digital road construction signs had a small unit(about the size of a pop can) that emitted Ka band. I have my SWS on but didn't see any type of text warning. If anyone can confirm I'd appreciate it. The first one I saw was in OK along the OK/TX border (mile marker 25). Family was fast asleep so I couldn't stop to take a picture. Are these radar emitting devices suppose to be emitting a certain freq. for SWS to pick up on?
BTW, I turned PoP on for the trip down, had alot of false alerts in big cities (KC, OK City, Dallas and Houston, especially Houston), but turned it off on the way home with very little falses.
Driving down, I and the family were in a hurry to meet relatives so I stuck the cruise at 80 - 85(thats VERY fast for me) and had too many saves to mention. Didn't really have any long distant saves though.
Oh, don't want to forget. Anyone know why the "your speed is" signs don't get picked up until RIGHT on top of them? Also, my detector doesn't pick up door openers very well either. Jumps between 4 and 5 while pointed directly at the units (15 feet away) Is it the filter 2 doing that?.
No tickets to or from by the way, 2550 mile round trip. Was very excited.
