the x50 has three settings, your standard setting that just shows the type of radar and strength, the expert meter, and spec display.
out of the these which is best? as of now i am using the expert meter and it has been working very well. should i change this to something else?
also, i keep my detector on city mode or highway mode. i have used auto and didnt think it picked up as well. would you all say auto is better to use?
I use expert meter and it has saved me when driving through a regular false area and a true signal showed up as well. I don't know how I got by w/o expert meter before.
I always use Highway mode as I used Auto once and thought it was not as sensitive either.
I am hooked on Expert Meter and I'll never go back.
I run Highway mode all the time.
Expert mode FTW, Especially on my 9500I it works awesome!
I use to only use "A" mode on my 8500 and now i only use "H" mode on my 9500I. Still deciding which mode i will be using all the time, and i have had my 9500I for a year.

ok cool, looks like im not the the only one that thought auto mode was not as sensitive. i have been using city mode with exp. meter and it works very well. ill have to give highway a shot.

City mode filters the most, Auto mode filters out pairs of falses, Highway mode doesn't filter anything and has best sensitivity.
I don't like expert meter for the fact that it has some flaws with escort's design. I prefer spec mode because I wanted to know radar brands are being used in my area and it also tells me what to look for with regards to the radar's capabilities. Whether you use STD or Spec meter, you always will get prioritising alerts. Although this is more of a preference, using one mode for a good amount time will let you get familiar with it's usefulness and options. My suggestion is to try each mode and see for yourself which works better for you.
Just be aware that when using expert mode, it will only show 1 bogey when 2 same brands are being used in ka band or any frequency close or the same to in K band - ex. K band frequency in 24.150 and 24.165 will mostlikely show only one bogey. It does however work well when there are diffrent bands in one location such as Ka and K band or X band.
