These RD's are nothing compared to that AN/ALR-56M you are used to in that Falcon huh Viper? I'm pretty familiar with the electric jet and I'm assuming you flew one?
Yes, but at around a million dollars per jet just for the RWR, you expect it to perform. And it better work as your life depends on it, vs. just a fine.
One thing that makes the V1 a no brainer for me...having it give you some basic threat direction info.
What we really need are antennas at all four corners of the car so we can get resolution in which quadrant the threat is. Also, a CRT display with diffent symbols for each threat type displaced from the center of the scope in relation to the range of the threat and quadrant. We can dream..
Exactly. Isn't it true that the "range rings" in that scope depict not range but threat status? Like lets say a soulder-mounted SA-7 (?) is about two miles away and a SA-2 Guideline is 5 miles away. Wouldn't the Guideline be depicted inside the ring and the 7 outside?
For classification reasons, I can't really answer that completely. However, your choice of the SA-7 is a bad example as since it's shoulder fired, it doesn't have an associated radar.
