First day with the 9500ix!

Ok I got the new 9500ix yesterday to replace the V1 in my company vehicle. I work in the lot of Metro areas so the V1 tends to go off a lot. I really did not mind it a lot but have been reading here about how few falses the 9500i gets I decided to give the ix a shot. On the way to work this morning after 20 miles of driving, not a peep, is this thing working I begin to wonder. I'm thinking this is kinda nice nothing beeping, not having to mute the detector, zone off into listening to talk radio. All of a sudden, driving about 15 over PSL on I85, the 9500ix speaks. Well this really grabs my attention and I get on the brakes thinking this must be really bad since it has been so quiet. "Red light camera ahead" is what it's telling me. I guess there was a camera on one of the side streets near the Intersate. Well it certainly got my attention, I was not expecting that.

All in all not bad, I kinda miss the arrows. On the 2 Xband hits I got I kept wondering if they were ahead or behind me. But all in all many many fewer false alarms vs the V1. Now I just have to see what kind of sensitivity I get against a real threat, time will tell.

I am loving it as well. Just got my ix yesterday and have completely forgot about ever owning the V1. The arrows were nice but due to the high amount of falses, it became a nuissance and distraction. I am really glad I went with the ix since Orlando, FL will officially inaugurate their red light camera program late next month with cameras in over 280 intersections. Perfect timing. Not that I would ever dare to cross on a red light, but I have seen these things get people crossing while in yellow. If I know there's a camera around, I'll have to be more patient and actually stop on yellow. Very valuable knowledge to have.

Bottom line, V1 = great for the country and less populated areas; 9500ix = perfect for larger cities and where cameras are a threat.

I can't wait! Unfortunately UPS doesn't ship to residences on weekends. :( However, I will be 'late to work' waiting for it Monday. ;) My employer knows this and gladly lets me be a gadget freak (he totally understood the 7/11 iPhone day I took off).

The drive from my parents house to my work on the interstate and then townships and then back to my apartment will be the perfect time to see this auto-learn and sensitivity in action! ;)

Man, I am loving this thing. I really can't imagine ever using my V1 again. That thing was loud and abnoxious. I got some of the same false alarms as the V1 but after the third time around my AutoLearn turned it off. I don't ever have to touch the RD. Never had to mute it as the sound automatically lowers itself after a couple of seconds, which makes me wonder why V1 doesn't have that feature. It grabs your attention and then quiets down (duh!). The redlight camera feature is also amazing. I have a couple of intersections near my house that have them and even though I know they're there, it's nice to have a reminder keeping you from trying to gun it at yellow.

I drive by a speed sensor everyday and the V1 yelled every freakin' time; never again! There is usually a couple that sits by it once a week, and my AutoLearn doesn't interfere with his signal at all. I'm going to try to get it on video so you guys can see this baby working.

Worth every single penny!

^^ When you say "couple" do you mean LEO? I would very much like to see the video where your 9500ix locks out the speed sensor but picks up the LEO's radar. (Are they the same band?) My 9500i has locked out a speed sign that the local sheriff plopped right in front of a K band door opener.

They are indeed the same band. Just different frequencies of course. I'll try to have it done some time this week.

Just for future info, UPS does ship to residential on weekends. I received my ix on Saturday. You just have to do next day air with saturday delivery. I have a few issues/questions with mine but I will start a new thread.

Mine is beginning to grow on me more and more each day. It is learning the falses and locking them out, making my drive every day a bit quieter. It will go in the Vette until I can get a laser jammer for the truck and will stick with the V1 in the truck for now. Just can't give up my only defense against laser until I can get a jammer installed.
