9500i/ci/x & Detector Tools Feedback (Please Join In)
Hey guys (and gals :p), I figure one of the best ways to get Escort to improve their products is for us to get together and voice our feedback, in a constructive manner, to compile a list of issues that we feel with either the product or the services provided with it.
This feedback should include anything from the hardware, software (Detector Tools), and everything in between.
The main point of this is to generate constructive feedback. Just saying something "sucks" or "doesn't work," is not helpful. Explain what you expect it to do, what it appears to do, and what you want it to do.
For some cases, that may not apply. For example if you are wanting to suggest a new feature, obviously you'd only have to explain what the feature should do and how it should work.
So let's get the feedback rolling!
I'll be keeping this thread (this post) updated with features and suggestions as a list for quick reference, so that all of you don't have to read through all the pages just to get the gist of what we're currently discussing and what has been suggested already.
These are just the starting categories, more can be added and some may be merged later depending on what develops.

The ci & ix are fine the way they are, anything more would be perfection, and we don’t need another V1.:D

The first issue I have was right before purchase -- the LED color choice (or lack thereof). It comes in blue, but not red. While I do not mind the price being the same for both blue and red, as the main problem is blending it in with my red backlit gauges and interior.
So a choice of red LED display coming back to the 9500ix and ci would be great.

Now seriously,
- More ability to define your own parameters for TrueLock, speed sensitivity and mark location. Speed cut off's, warning distances, lock out radius.
- Speck & Expert mode working at the same time.
- 8 way arrows that show direction and approximate distance to source, would require a multi color display.
- Pop up display for ease of use and sight.
They are pretty good the way they are now, but as time goes on im sure there will be more refinement that we didn’t think about.

Elaborate, I am indeed curious. :D

I have a problem with false alerts at 35.9XX GHz on my 9500ci, but only in my home town. I can't figure out what is causing them, but they are annoying. They do not occur on my V1, 9500i or SRX.
The ability to select Ka band segments, like the Bel STi-R has already, would solve this problem. Deselecting the segment called "Ka10" on the STi-R is something I would really like to do. The alternative would be to have a firmware patch that clips the Ka band somewhere above 35.7 GHz or so. There is no reason to have anything enabled above that frequency anyhow, at least not in the US.

The buttons on the 9500I & ix are on the top so they are difficult to see up high. If thay made a pop down/up touch display it could be customized how we want and actually see what we are doing. Some features we change more than others, so we would be able to set the ones we use the most on the display.
I just got the new Dare cell phone by Verizon so im on a touch screen kick.

Where would the display go/come from? Are you thinking as part of the detector or a remote display type of unit (like the 9500ci has)? I understand what you mean by the detector being too high to utilize the buttons at the top but I don't catch myself trying to use any except Mute, which the smart cord lets me hit.

Hmm, I think VR has a patent on this "radar locator," so I don't think this is possible without looking into the VR patent details. If it is 'location based off two antennas' then maybe they could use GPS instead to try and guesstimate? I am not an expert at radar so maybe someone else will have to chime in with the technicalities of this matter. Of course, I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd love for this feature to come to the 9500ix. :D

Yes, good point. Is this only a problem on Ka band or all bands? I mean, would there be any reason to have segments able to be turned on/off for each radar band?

I just want to make it clear this is a ZOMBIE free thread.
Re: 9500i/ci/x & Detector Tools Feedback (Please Join In)
I'm new to the 9500i as I've only had mine a few days. I bought it to use in our second car and as a primary while my V1 is in for upgrade (should be back Tuesdsay), but as a V1 user, my complaint so far is with display size. The 9500 display is too small to read all the info recived while busy. I prefer the V1 size for its ease of reading at a glance (but the 9500i looks much prettier and sleaker, but this doesn't mean more functional). I'd be happy if the 9500i display was 1/2 again as tall as it still wouldn't be huge, but would be much easier to read.
I too would like to see more LED color options, why doesn't Escort/Bell offer green options? With the number of cars with green backlighting, I would think this would be higher demand than blue.
Final option I'd like to have that could also fix my first request is a remote full display option (did I mention I'm used to V1), the smartcord is OK, but I'd like to have the full display remote mounted.
