Take a good look because it's gone...
Got stolen last night in the driveway. V1 and Sony GPS GONE!
I live in a wonderful gated community and a super low crime area...perfect combo for disaster. I filed a Police Report and Called V1. They took the s/n and information from Police Report. I did not realize that if you report a V1 stolen to them they will help in nabbing the guys, or at very least not warranty repairs or upgrades.
I will be getting another one soon....life goes on!!!! What a nice way to start the day! I miss it already.

Wow that sucks! I'm glad you moved on.
I leave mine up in the car because it's in the parking garage at a University so I should be OK since there are cameras EVERYWHERE on-campus.

Was it left on the windshield? Did you lock your car? Do you have an alarm?
By the way does Valentine record the serial number when you buy the unit?
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
Yes V1 does record your s/n. I believe I spoke to Mike himself. He was very nice. He asked me for the police report number, county, agent assign and his number. He gave me the s/n from when I purchased the unit. I told I will be getting another one sometime soon.
Between that and the Sony Nav-U I am out about $650.00... :violin:
I am pretty bumbed out about it, it's young teen kids in the neighborhood, I know it is, they did not have school today so they go around breaking into cars. I will be getting an alarm very soon too.
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
I never leave my V1 in my or hanging up on the dash
My daily driver detector is a BEL v995 which I keep in my glove box when not in use
I also take my GPS and mount off my car when not driving the car
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
My neighborhood is the same way, we have a low violent crime rate, but the police are only worried about keeping drunks in line downtown and writing tickets. That means garage hopping is very prevelent, and if you leave your car unlocked outside stuff will be missing.
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
Man... that sucks. I feel for you.
I hope they find whoever did this!
Thieves are the absolute scum of the earth.
PS: For future reference: You called VR, not V1 mate.
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
Man,
Thanks so much to a great forums community. It has been a looonngg day still thinking about what happened. Man, that V1 was a great one with 9 real saves in 4 months. At least with the police report local pawn shops can also tell if it's hot.
I wish I could just get another one, but kids B-Day in 2 weeks and then Christmas too, I am out of options.
I feel soo violated .... :(
Ya' know stuff like this only happens to the good people on the planet, right?
Re: Take a good look because it's gone...
People will steal anything, there used to be a kid stealing metal valve stem caps off my cars. I remember one day in broad daylight that little bastard was stealing them and a neighbor caught him, scared the crap out of him.

Yeah, because the bad people are the ones doing it!
Really man, that sucks... what about buying a temporary unit: Like a Whistler or V940/55 in the sub $200 category?
I would say use the Bel, but being the cordless (and outdated) unit it is... it wont help much I don't think.
Again: I hope they find the people!
