Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
Hi guys,
I've been watching these forums for a couple weeks and have a legitimate issue that I would like some help with. I bought an I-zoom this weekend for my trip from North Central Indiana to Chicago. It's basically a transponder attached to your credit card. When you go through the toll booth, your serial number is recorded and you get charged electronically...this way there is no stopping to pay some idiot who can't count.
Descriptions aside, this I-zoom is mounted at the very top of my windshield on the glass behind the rearview mirror (I have a ceiling mounted mirror, not WS mounted). My V1 is mounted a centimeter below and aligned with the left edge of my RVM. This puts them about 3 inches apart. The forward sensor on my V1 is in front of the I-Zoom transponder and the rear sensor is behind the I-Zoom transponder. I'm getting single alarm 1-bogey 1-bubble X band falses every 2-3 minutes. This trend started minutes after I mounted the do-hickey and continues still. I'm just about ready to rip the transponder off my WS and deal with the clowns at the toll booths who can't count change for a $10. I took it down for a bit, but continued getting the false X-Bands so I figured something was wrong with my V1. Have any of you encountered this problem? Can you confirm it IS the I-Zoom? Should I send my (2 month old) V1 in for calibration?
Thanks for the help in advance. =)

wat rev is your v1? did u buy it brand new 2 months ago?
Re: Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
I plugged the serial number into the website and there were no available updates. The guy I bought it from used it for 35 hours cross-country in a rental car because he didn't want to un-do his custom install in his own vehicle. The unit was "practically" brand new when I got it. Again, I've been using this unit for about two months without any false X alarms. I've traveled from South Bend to Chicago to Fort Wayne and back to South bend over the past weekend and have been getting the X band all along regardless of who I'm near on the road or what road I'm on. The only piece of electronic equipment I've added to my setup is the I-Zoom. I just saw on RebInc's custom install, though, that he has an I-pass (Illinois' version) mounted right beside his V1.

lol no no read number II
Ask Mike - Report #3
and maybe try the v1 in a different car and see how it works
Re: Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
It alerts to X band because the transponder is an RFID, which falls in the range of the X-band on your V1.
Take you toll tag and place it on the top corner of the driver's side.
Re: Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
My V1 should be ****ed then, but I don't have any problems. I'm pretty sure the I-Zoom is the exact same thing as our I-Pass (even though you're zooming we're still passing your slow asses over in IN :D).

Only on the V1 alerts. The Escort ZR3, ZR4, Laser Interceptor or Laser Park Pro don't alert to the tolls.
Re: Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
Sounds like typical tool-plaza falses to me. I get 3 to 4 K-band false together with one laser false when I do my daily commute. I also have a transponder too.
Re: Tollroad Payment Devices (I-Pass/I-Zoom)
IN/IL toll booths don't have any radar present, only the laser warning.
