Short trip with V1 and CB
Had a trip of about 200 miles today, about half blacktop, about half interstate.
I had posted about it not seeming to work on K band but the Ka is great!
I was on a stretch where I got a ticket with I/O so I was cruising about 70 with some idiot on my @ss. The V1 started blipping a good 5 sec before I saw the trooper rounding a corner towards me about 1/2 mile away. I had plenty of time to haul it down to 55 (with the idiot closing on my bumper, boy did he BACK WAY OFF when he saw the trooper!) before he got full lock on me. Kinda strange that he had C/O...
Pretty neat watching the arrows change front-side-rear!
I also got hung up in stopped traffic on I-16 and the CB told me what was going on and which lane was moving etc. VERY USEFUL!
After passing the problem (burned SUV I heard, never saw anything.) I hauled ass up to about 85 and got a Ka blip from behind that kept going for a good couple of miles. I don't know if he was pacing me or what but the ARROWS told me he was back there! I saw him when he turned on the blues and crossed the median going west
Anyway, I'll probably send it in for a tune tomorrow because of the K problem.
I was surprised at the physical size of the V1. It's not really that big at all.
Re: Short trip with V1 and CB
when u get it back u will be even more amazed at the sensitivity esp if u say K is not working that well...and yes the v1 is very tiny compared to what it looks like online

Isn't it suprising? It looks big and awkward online and in the pictures, but when you get it...dare I say it looks cute?

Yea, I'd say it's "radar detector sized." :D
I don't know why everyone expects it to be this gawdy bohemoth. (I did) It's a really classy looking design.
I had looked at pictures of the windshield mount and it looked like some weird over-engineered deal. This is after dealing with Bel/Escort/Cobra products, which are about the same as far as sucker mounts go.
The mount is really ingenious, down to the rubber strip on the RD body. Seems like it was made with swapping vehicles in mind.
You can tell a lot of thought went into this thing...
I'm guessing the concealed display is the same size as the front plate on the V1?

Yeah, more or less. I'm too lazy to go measure it, but i'd say about 2" wide and 1" tall. Pretty small, and a great tool.
Re: Short trip with V1 and CB
To me it's well balanced. Where other detectors are long and narrow the V1 is shorter and wider and it sits well on a dash and doesn't bounce like other detectors. Craig Peterhead rants about it being so big and is responsible for creating the myth about it being huge.

^ I saw a GX at Circuit City...I nearly threw up. I couldn't believe how long it was...

Maybe he was confusing it with his peter...
OK, I'll stop...
