Just wanted to know what you see on start up after option I is enabled.
The start up is longer. The K/Ka/Laser LEDs blink a little longer. What does "I" do, again?
It's suppose to do a "factory test". There is P that shows up. Does it show POP on start up aside from the blinking x/k/ka/laser lights with your 812?
As many times as I've seen the question about the "I" option, I have never seen a clear cut, definitive answer as to what this option does and why a person would/should have this option 'enabled'.
I think the "I" option stands for inexplicable or maybe incomprehensible?
Option 'I' is to turn on or off the factory self test.
This is pretty much a POST (Power On Self Test).
I don't see this option on newer units, not sure why it's still in the programming guide.
I enabled option "I" on my 3.813 today. Now at power up it does the "P o P" sequence just like the 3.816 and higher POP versions. Didn't leave it enabled for my drive, so I don't know if it falses like crazy with "I" on.
Why would VR refer to this option as "self-test"?
the self test feature is very good because just in case your v1 goes bad how are you supposed to know, the only way you will know is when you get a ticket and your v1 didnt go off.(that happened to me btw). so the self test feature makes a quick test on start up to make sure your v1's hardware is in tact.
It only works on those two versions. Maybe it was there by accident, or they just felt it was unnecessary to put it there? Seems weird for it to be on only two versions.
