The next day I see the van again and the rd's on "auto" and I'm approaching the van fast and still no alert! So I switch it to "highway" and it alerts a weak signal. Then I switched back to "auto" and it showed a weak signal. This has happened to me several more times yesterday with vans. Anyone else have this problem?
I mean I just got the thing and I'm personally on double duty; driving and keeping an eye on the damn 9500i. Very annoying.
I live in the Phoenix area and there are mostly stationary cameras here so I don't have many chances to test the rd, which is eerily silent most of the time. I'm afraid that if I let my guard down and actually encounter a cop w/gun, I may end up with a ticket. Just wondering if I got a lemon or what. I updated the software first thing.
I've spoken with Escort personnel and he tried very hard to convince me it's the traffic or I didn't have it leveled or the van was hiding too well...things along those lines.
By the way, even with the v 1.0 software update, my rd still won't let me "mark" while on alert.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
I was in AZ recently and had the same experience with the radar vans (SUVs really) using low power K band with my 9500ix. We were practically on top of the van before the 9500ix alerted. Fortunately we could see most of the vans a long way off. The 9500ix had no problems with the fixed speed cameras which were running regular Ka 34.7.
I don't think it was just the 9500ix being weak in detecting low power K band. I think most Rd would have the same issue.
There is always the choice of driving at or below the speed limit.....
