Suggestion I emailed to Vr (Settable Power up mode)
Add a "Power Up" mode. This way if I put it in Big L mode. Say because I was in traffic, or had a guest in car and I had to quiet the unit. But I normally might like to run in A or Small l mode. This way I won't forget to put in the safer mode. I would allow power up in 4 modes. Last, A, L and l.
What do you think?

I think that is a good idea.

Like on my stereo. If I BLAST the thing at 100% for movie then my wife pops on the radio the next morning and blasts her at 100% she is PISSED. So my stereo has a feature to power up and 50% and adjust it each time after I power it up. Comes on in SAFE for everyone mode.
Likewise I may want to normally run in A mode. Every day. But say I have a guest that comes in that isn't so tolerant to the beeps and bops. So I put it in L mode.
Next day I go on the highway and get zapped in L mode. Oh crap I forgot to put in my favorate safe mode (A). If it automatically reset to my desired mode (every morning) I would have been ok. If the guest came in car again I wouldn't forget to put it back in L mode because as soon as it beeped and guest started making faces I'd adjust it.
If it was left in L mode I might forget for days because it will be quiet.
The guest is just an example.
It's not perfect but I nice little safety net.
"Last" would be the way it behaves now. Power on what ever was last set.
You will remember to make it quieter when it starts barking at you. But you may not remember to make it noisier while it's in a less safe mode.
I hope "VR" "get's it".

Re: Suggestion I emailed to Vr (Settable Power up mode)
Sounds like a nice feature to have. Some day I hope to develop my own custom-built remote display for the V1, and it would be possible to program it to set the V1 to a desired mode when powered up.
I also plan on putting a Belscort-style automute feature in it as well.
Re: Suggestion I emailed to Vr (Settable Power up mode)
If I'm deciphering this correctly...
Use a dip-switch scenario similar to the K band automute timing to enable a mode where the V1 will start up in the same mode each time, regardless of what mode it may have been in when it was last powered off.
Anywhere near the money?

You hit the nail on the head.
A great example of a similar feature on Belscorts is the brightness settings in programming mode. You can set it to "last" where it powers up at the last brightness setting you had it on, or set it to a specific brightness to power-up in.

Belscort doesn't have any patents on the autovolume, do they? I'd love to see VR implement an autovolume feature into the V1. I'm sure V1 would perfect it to work like we expect, unlike the crap I experienced with my 9500ix. The feature was useless on that thing :(
