From what I understand people just find the blue easier on the eyes and easier to view. I've never had a problem with viewing the Red LED so I have never taken the time to actually compare the differences
Easier on the eyes and $40 more's my experience. I suffer from "starred" vision at night and the blue display is a lot clearer to me than the red. On the other hand, the blue LED in the smart cord is really bright....too bright in my opinion. It lights up nearly the entire interior of my car, and the red doesn't.
Contrary to what most people report, I despise the blue display. For me the red is just right whether its day or night and doesnt need brightness adjustments.
The only difference is the color. I also find blue much easier on the eyes and clearer day or night.
The $$ difference comes from the materials used to make the LEDs a different color, and Escort just passes along the difference.
I prefer the red, the blue is brighter, I might prefer the blue if it was a matter of matching interior lights.
No performance difference just a different color, I personally like blue the best.
If you value your night vision you want RED. But that is based on you driving with your headlights off. :)
Being an Amateur Astronomer RED is my choice but many car interiors using blue lighting without causing any issues
Only difference is the color of the LED
Blue LED's cost more because of the manufacturing process
