Mounting LI heads to plastic bumper - vibration loosening?
The optimum mounting locations on the front of my car are all plastic. It looks like alignment considerations push me toward screw-mounting rather than adhesive tape, but I'm wondering if over time those self-tappers work loose from vibration. Getting behind the bumper to put nuts on bolts at the best sites looks very difficult without removing the bumper.
What have your experiences been with screws into plastic bumpers?
Thanks in advance,
Cal

Here's the front of the '08 550i. The placement will be attached to the upper edge of the lower grill opening, outward of the two cameras. It's all plastic down there.

Regardless this picture, what is your experience (if any) with loosening screws tapped into plastic body components?

I would go with screw mounting over adhesive tape. I've seen multiple bimmers with screw mounted jammer heads and none of them have had problems with vibration or testing.

Thanks. That'll be my plan, then.

Got any pics under the hood? I can't imagine getting a nylon lock nut under there will be that difficult. One or two splash guards infront of the radiator, twist your arm a bit... :) Or remove the bottom splash panel and lie down on the ground to access it.

i just used adhesive sticky tape and it works well so far (used it on an vette for about 2 yrs).
