Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Hey,
I just bought a 3 month old 9500 Ix, with serial code and all. The odd scratch on that back purple part won't affect performance will it?There are some thin little line, that appear not to very deep at all.
Is it best to run preferences on expert meter/standard?
An should I just leave it on Auto mode in the city, and highway mode for highway? Or highway mode the whole time?
What's the best way to bend the mount?
Do some cruise controls set off K band?
Thanks,
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
I insert the mount into the rd and then bend it, or use a flat table so it bends evenly. The scratches wont hurt detection. I would use standard meter and run it in auto mode till you get used to it. Highway mode is for Highway and auto for city but a lot of users just keep it in auto mode all the time. Spec meter and expert meter are favorites also. Some cruise controls will set off my V1, don't know about my 9500ix (currently under my G-friends supervision).

Ok so just leave it with the standard meter on right now? glad to know the scratches won't hurt it! Yeah it was weird, I just passed a guy in the City in a 80Km/H zone, and all of a sudden i got like 4 bands of K.
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Yes I would leave it in the standard meter. This will allow you to get used to the signal strength on the meter and how it relates to the audio ramp-up as the signal gets stronger. Then after you are used to it spec mode is a favorite of mine to show the frequency of radar in use. Example my Highway patrol use 34.7 and my locals 35.5, so I know what to loof for when it alerts.
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Will standard meter display more then one signal at once ever? or can only the other meters to do that?
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
It's really up to you which display. Try all 3. I love the Frequency display myself. I find the Expert display too tiny to read while driving.
Most of us run with Auto off because you already have the GPS to eliminate 99% of the falses so why not run minimal filtering 100% of the time. Auto is speed senistive and only does more filtering at low speeds so it does have minimal risk. If you drive a lot of GPS unlearned areas Auto might be more worth while.
There are some new cruise control systems that use radar. Not sure about frequency though.

Alright, i think ill get used to it first, and then try something else.
When you say Auto off, is that auto learn? By turning it off, doesn't it defeat the purpose to not have false alarms?
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Heres another question, I want to clear the device database because i bought it used. It says in the manual i can do this by holding the brt, mute, scn button and then pressing the gps button, but when i hold the 3 all that comes up is preferences? How do i do actually do this?
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Are you trying to clear the database, unlock the lockouts, or reset the RD to factory default setting?
Re: Just got my 9500IX, quick questions?
Yeah trying to clear the data base from autolearn, unlock the lockout!
