Is there any way of testing Ka? Like is there something around that will make it false on Ka band?
No. I wouldn't be all worried just because you are passing LEOs and not getting a signal. Remember, a RD is a radar detector not a cop detector.
Re: Redline Ka not working?
What if i got my hand held radio scanner to sweep Ka band and held it close to the detector would the leaking emmisions from the scanner set of Ka band on the redline?

The scanner is a receiver and does not transmit. You need something transmitting in the ka frequencies. I suggest more driving, drive by the police depart, Highway patrol etc would be what I would try if its not to far out of the way.
Re: Redline Ka not working?
Find someone running a Cobra! My Redline finds these p.o.s. better than a Spectre.

Ha Ha I was gonna suggest powering one up in the same car as the Redline. That would set the redline into a Flatline....:p.
In all seriousness I am sure some Cobras and Unidens would work fine as a ka transmitter.
