Thanks for the welcome! I've done my research and have figured I'll get a Redline with a SC55. Best of both worlds IMHO.

Which two worlds are you referring to? Unless you travel east a lot, the Redline doesn't seem a very intuitive choice for you. In fact, it would be about my last choice for there.

I look at photo radar, speed on green, red light camera tickets all a form of piracy - taking money (taxation) without representation.

I take the "Texan" part in regards to OIL yes?
Please explain further why you think the Redline would be my last choice?
Here's my reasoning:
I live in a small city (about 15000 people) so not a lot of false signals. I travel to big centers occationally and need highway protection most of all. I would also like GPS feature as Edmonton and Calgary are getting more and more red light and photo radar equipment set up. I like sensitivity but the V1 doesn't have GPS tagging/database available and I like that the Redline can be muted with the SC55. Even if the Redline falses frequently (up for debate as I honestly don't know one way or the other) I would rather live with a false than a non alerted positive. Everything I've read and seen on youtube, the V1 and Redline are very closely matched for performance and the GPS gets the nod. Yes, the Escort 9500ix was my first choice, but the stealth of the Redline is appealing even though BC, Alberta and Saskatewan allow radar detectors, it may only be a matter of time before they are outlawed.
If you can poke any holes in my logic, please do, I am here to be educated and take no offence in constructive debate.
