V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
Just to be sure.. if 8 is programmed down and I mute (G-D knows in the city mute is needed) so there is silence.. if another signal comes in (even the same band/frequency) .. will it unmute so I am made aware? Another words... what unmutes it?

Need more information.
Which mode and see your other settings if 8, G, and D are down?

Muted volume set to zero, for me, is insanity! lol
But seriously, I use k-band muting, which I highly recommend, and I adjust the muted volume to the desired level. If it gets too annoying, turn it way down so I barely hear it.
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
I thought this was irrespective of the program (A..l...L) or other settings...With 8 down if I hit mute the sound will be muted to zero as opposed to the control level setting... my question is simply when does it unmute.. next incoming signal?

I just tried 8 down. After getting an x-band alert I hit mute, it went silent, then I got a second x-band bogey and all I heard was the bogey alert tone then silence again. The arrows kept flashing of course.
Frankly, you can achieve the same end by moving the muted volume knob all the way to the left...then just hit mute button and silence.
You should seriously consider k-band muting though. It'll save you the hassle of having to hit the mute button every time you get sick of the initial volume. Makes for a much easier city drive. As does setting it to advanced logic mode.
As far as your question goes about what unmutes when 8 is down and you've pressed mute, I dunno. It's a very good question. I doubt many people have the answer to it. It ain't in the instructions! lol
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
Thanks hiddencam! I do use k suppression, but that does not affect x or ka band muting.... I know ka needs to be heard... but... 2 examples of situations this setting might help..
1) If I chose to not kill x band for the tiny risk of a LEO using x... this would mute the tone
2) If on the highway an LEO happens to be behind me for a long stretch and Ka won't stop this would quiet the ride (I am already aware of their presence, just want quiet)
**In essence, this renders the mute similar to the ix smart cord mute that silences signals.
**My biggest concern is when does it UNmute... Yes, I am aware that I can turn the inner volume lever all the way down, but their must be a reason for the 8 setting (different than simply turning down the lever to 0)
anyone use this or know??
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
Sure thing, lrcdds. Hey, which V1 version do you have? Because in contrast to yours, my 3.872 auto mutes both K and X when in logic or advance logic mode. You're the second person at this forum who's said that that their x-band isn't muted along with k-band...
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
I also have the 3.872 but do not get x muting with suppression (but it does say in the programming that7- bCd is for k band muting...not x
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
I don't need k band on at all!!! Hahaha
Re: V1 - Programming 8 "Down"... Clarity (possibly sanity??)
I used to like you and your posts Solidjake....;) hahaha
I can't believe that no one has answer to this... it would affect so many who have posted threads..
