LED Light Bar + Quad Projectors
Hey guys, so my car is basically finished, I will get some photos up soon.
I installed four Morimoto bi-xenon projectors into the headlights (two in each), but I took out the bi-xenon solenoid and shield from the projectors the high beam projectors.
Basically the low beams will be on at all times, when I fire the high beams the solenoids will open the shield on the low beams, as well as turning on the high beam projectors. The output should be pretty intense. All bulbs are running at 5000k though I am considering adding 3000k to the high beams for poor weather conditions. I am also considering adding projectors to the fog lights at either 3000k or 5000k.
My question is while the output of this setup is sure to be pretty intense, I think I would like even more for rural driving, or at least another option outside of firing up the traditional headlights Does anyone know of some LED light bars that I can place behind the grill? I've got a picture below to illustrate what I am talking about.
I'm considering adding these to the top and bottom slots behind my grill.
Re: LED Light Bar + Quad Projectors
one 35w set should be enough, two 35w projectors will be very bright, MORE will just be unnecessary. i use 55w with FX35s and they hurt my eyes after a while. i don't think you'll need any more than two 35w. im going back to 35w.
i'd stick to 85122 or 85122+ bulbs also, the focal points of the aftermarket bulbs are never as good as OEM.
and to be honest, i would leave the solenoids in also. so that all 4 are on all the time, and when you flick the high beams, all 4 solenoids activate giving you 4 high beams.
if i read correctly, you're only using one morimoto set for main lights, and the second for high beam lights. the problem with using HIDs as high beams is the warm up period, if you're only using the HID high beams for a little while, they will take a little while to warm up, and be blue at the start, as you know. also, flicking on and off HIDs are very damaging to the bulbs.
i might of misunderstood though.
also, stick to OEM ballasts, warm up in a couple seconds and very reliable.
Re: LED Light Bar + Quad Projectors
OP - why the light bar? lol i mean it looks cool, just different i guess.

I agree. Check out customlightz.com they sell OEM Ballasts for around $200 (new) but they're so much more reliable than the $90 ones. I have a $90 pair but I'll use em till they poop out. I didn't think OEM ballasts were cheap enough the first time around - RESEARCH.
Projectors look good though. Good taste :)
I'm getting either Acura TSX or Honda S2000 Projectors w/ Clear lens next spring.

Yea, I've got a pair of the Phillips 6000k bulbs on order. I was actually able to get them from an OEM supplier overseas and they are legit, and best of all not nearly as expensive as in the states.
The reason I'm taking the solenoids out and only running the high beam when I need it is three fold; you're only allow four lights or two pairs of lights to be on at any given time. If I had four beams on from the headlights along with the two from my fogs, that would put me at six. I also don't feel like going through the hassle of lining up four cutoffs or doing any special wiring.
I only intend to turn the high beams on when I'm on rural roads so I should be able to keep them on for extended periods of time, thus not worrying about flickering them on/off too much. I have heard quite a bit about going with OEM ballasts and it's certainly something I am considering. Though I did run some cheaper ballasts for four years without issue. Definitely sticking with 35w though.

I just wanted to do something different and have an option for even more light output without compromising the visual appeal of the car. I've got a supplier that has the OEM ballasts and since two people have mentioned this, maybe I will have them add a pair to my Hella projector order for the fogs. The look of the projectors is amazing, especially on a wall, though I kind of wish the cutoff had a bit more color.

Really? What the temp in the Phillips 85122CMs? 4300k? 4700k? I know that I don't want to get more go lower then the 5000k that I have.

the CMs are around 4900 to 5000. i boost them at 55w, so they look more like 4600, perfect IMO. but they're awesome even at 35w.
the ultinons are going to be really blue. looked more like 8000k to me, and the bulbs didn't match, one was more blue than the other. and it was from theretrofitsource. a legit place.

Yea, I actually managed to get in contact with the company that supplies TRS. Hell, I may just order a pair of both and see which I like better, I use to have 8000k long before my projector days but after looking at the 5000k H1 I got with the MH1 I want to stay in that region.
Re: LED Light Bar + Quad Projectors
you used the morimoto mini D2s not the H1s right?
