XTR-693SE Turning off X band causes K band Falses?
Hey, after reading quite a bit in this forum and looking at some videos and GOL tests i decided to look for a SE model whistler. Found a 693se for a good price and bought it. I think i read that turning off X band on whistlers just causes K band falses because it never really turns off the X band searching, just the reporting of something.
Can anyone verify this problem, or verify that I am wrong and turning off X band is actually effective?
Currently I have X band off, but I want to turn it on if setting x off causes K falses.
Thanks a lot, I'll report back my experiences with this unit.

I used a Whistler Pro for a while, and it would get confused at times. I noticed when I would get strong x band signals, it would sometimes go to k band, and continue back and forth. My 9960 will occasionally do the same thing as well.
So, I could see strong X band falses causing K band falses, if this is still an occurrence with them.

Whistler has X and K on the same sweep. It has been like that since the Pro 78 (Non se) came out.

What does this imply for city 2 mode where no X is done? Simply that it still sweeps and doesn't report? Or does it stop sweeping too? IF that is the case disabling bands does nothing for performance but just produces more confusion?
thanks for the responses guys.

That is a question for Mike B ..He is a engineer on here from Whistler ..

Okie dokie hopefully he will see the thread. I just don't want the detector to report X band or K band as Ka band like i've seen in some youtube videos. That would cause a bad news bears dodge into the right lane.
So basically, if there is no performance difference, and turning off X can cause a signal to be reported as K or even Ka, i would rather just leave X on and not have to freak out.
Overall I don't mind the unit. I've been driving around Worcester MA with highway mode, filter 1, X off, and have not gotten any annoying alerts yet. The start up could be slighlty annoying at 7 am on a Monday morning though.

The answer is that the unit will not report X band.
That does not mean that if will ignore information that it feels requires notifying the user.
Such is the case with multiple X band door openers.
If the unit can continue toidentify them as X, your unit will remain quiet.
If for any reason the information becomes overwhelming, there is the possibility that the information can lead the unit to think that X and K may be in use and will report the alert as K band as you had turned off X.
My suggestion is to use City 1 and see if that is acceptable.
City 1 reduces X band alerts but will alert to X band when you cross a higher threshold.

I am in Littleton, stop in sometime.
You can set the start up alerts OFF in the menu option to make it less annoying.

Ok thanks a lot for the information michael. I guess i should have taken the two seconds to turn off start up alers before complaining. I like the alert sound, its very distinctive. I would like to take you up on stopping in, i guess ill send you a PM for good times. Maybe you can boost my units performance or something. Oh, i'm not having any trouble with the windshield mount release, works well.
