Anyone drive a GT-R as a daily?
Anyone? The 2012s are a lot more refined than the previous versions although it is still a tough ride...I find it to be a lot more comfortable than say the Evo MR for example. After driving a few GT-Rs on closed courses, I fell in LOVE, but a few hours of driving can't really tell you much about it as a daily driver for a period of years. Even reviewers who say it is a poor DD only get them for a period of hours, so I want to hear from owners!!! I absolutely love the GT-R and I've considered one, but I would prefer to drive it as a daily instead of driving my van, which does poor mileage wise and really isn't all that fun. So if anyone drives a GT-R of any year as a daily or very frequently, how good/bad is it?
Re: Anyone drive a GT-R as a daily?
I doubt anyone has one on here... its already a cop magnet. Most users here are trying to avoid all chances of talking to a LEO. I'd ask on the Gtr forum. IMO a 911 would be better if you're looking for a dd. If your looking for straight up performance you can't really beat the Gtr for the price. Corvette isn't a bad deal but not quite in the same league.
Re: Anyone drive a GT-R as a daily?
I did a track day with a GT-R as well as the Vette Grand Sport and Z06...I want to drive the ZR1 as the Z06 was awesome but the GT-R stands in a place of its own. It thrills me more than any Ferrari I have ever driven (I've never driven the Enzo/F50/FX/other top tier models however) and any other Italian ladies I have been in and/or driven. I've been told the 2013 will take the refinement up a few notches and add the ability to do 6 inches of snow easily....but who knows. I like the 911t, although it just doesn't do it for me like that GT-R. That said, I know guys who use their 911t's for everything from track days to transporting their dogs. One has it not only as his DD but his only car. I don't mind a lack of refinement but there is a practical limit as I drive 120-150 miles or more a day. My min level would be something like that of a previous Evo MR, which was a really, really unrefined ride (or an older Corvette). I figure guys on GT-R forums will say all good about it but I'll give it a go. Thanks!
Re: Anyone drive a GT-R as a daily?
Ya asking a car model specific forum about the car specific to that forum you will get biased answers and opinions. But if you get good responses you might be able to find out how it is as a daily. See how drives it like that and what car they're coming from and what other cars they considered buying.

Obviously we are in completely different tax brackets ha! :) I would love the opportunity to just take a GT-R out for a spin. I love reading about that car. I am just always blown away that it cost less then 100k yet can outperform nearly everything but the TOP elite.
I'm also befuddled that you drive a van and are looking to a GT-R :p

Well you need something for hauling ass and something else for hauling asses. :p
The car is 100% sex...I am yet to drive a car (or bike) that does 0-150 anything like the GT-R (check out how the 2012 romped the Top Gear Track). I never figured at this age that I would be seriously be looking at one...I guess all these years of being a nerd have paid off :p

LMAO!!
Re: Anyone drive a GT-R as a daily?
A stock GT-R is fast to 150 mph? Don't they trap in the quarter around 115-117 mph? My old C5 with bolt-ons would hang with a new GT3 on the straights at Road Atlanta. I'd loose them in the turns when I didn't have race rubber on and GT3's will pull 118 mph quarter trap speeds.
Think you just like the turbine smoothness? Even a CTS-V will with a GT-R in the straight.

New CTS-V wagon is so hot.

Stock 2012 GT-R will break into high 10s at the 1320 with a trap speed around 125. Its Top Gear run edged out the Veyron, Enzo, Zonda, and destroyed the GT2 and GT3. On a track, the car really can't be beaten by anything under a mil, minus perhaps the new McLaren. It shat all over the 458 and Turbo S.

Then when you play around with them to get to the 800-1,000 WHP range, your speedometer moves faster than that of many performance bikes.
