Bel V955 v. RX65 If not used in USA Mode
So I am trying to decide if the RX65 is worth the extra over cost over the V955 if not used in USA mode. It seems that the RX65s performance benefit is in USA mode which I am hesitant to use since it will not pick up out of tune radar. Sure it has some nice extras features, but performance wise if left in International mode it seems like it would be very similar to a V955 or V995.
Am I just being overly cautious about getting nailed with an out of tune radar device??

We tested an RX65 without USA mode enabled against a v995 in 2009. It's only a sample size of one each, but at least it's the comparison of the two units you're looking for.

I ended up just buying another V955. I had already purchased one for a my wife a few weeks ago and it does what I need. I could not justify the extra cost for the same M4 detector plus some features I will never use. After reading that the USA mode on the M4 platform is only marginally better than International I figure it was not worth missing an out of tune radar. I am replacing an old Bel 950 that I have had for over 10yrs that has served me well.

You may want to highly consider going with another radar detector. I had a 995/M4 but sold it, after finding out it sucked so badly with off-axis and I/O & Q/T.
Do yourself a favor and sell that then get a Whistler. I recommend the 690 SE or 695 SE. These devices run anywhere from $130 - $160 new and perform MUCH better than the 995.
But hey, it's just advice. You can be like, "Man, screw this guy's opinion. I like my 995. It does what I need it to do. So !@#$% you, mlyon83!"
Hey man, that's cool. IT'S ONLY ADVICE! And it could save you a big, fat ticket. But at the end of the day...
...YOU CAN DO WHATEVER THE FUC!@$ YOU WANNA DO! :)
