    Default Vintage Radar Detectors

Hello. I am new to the forum. I have recently started collecting old vintage radar detectors. (yes I know I am a little late. ) If you have an old radar detector lying around, working or not, I might be interested in purchasing it. Right now I am trying to find the original "Super Snooper" super het model made by Autotronics in Dallas, TX back in the mid to late 70's. Very few of these units were made and most auto combusted after a couple hours of use. If you know of one, or have other old models, drop me a line at svm@coxinet.net. thanks, steve

Is that the one with the two acrylic probes coming out the front? You got a lot better deal on it than I did LOL!

Had not seen that before. I've owned the Road Patrol (Snooper XK), GUL Micro Scan, and Fox XK. The Road Patrol XK was my first RD. It actually worked pretty good on X band, which was the primary radar threat in the late 70s, early 80s in the Dayton area. Then along came the KR-11 and HR-10 (or was it 12) from Kustom. Then I bought a GUL Micro Scan which was an X-K detector. Not so good on K band, with at most a 300-500 ft. range on K band.

The amazing thing is that I never got any tickets when driving with those, especially after K band came along.
