    Well I am sure that it wasn't a traffic radar unit in the helicopter that was setting your detector.

    When Aircraft speed enforcement is done, they use timing devices. Most common is a stop watch
    Though I would love to see an aircraft radar enforcement attempt, just so I could laugh as the ticketing officer tried to explain to a judge how that 200'-wide beam was targeting MY car specifically.

    Yeah and think of the cosine angle at that....

    Yes, the minimum speed limit on this road is 60 km/h, and we clocked the defendant driving 5 km/h and passing everyone on the road.

    He will almost certainly have a radar altimeter in his 340.

    Many helicopters have them because they operate at low altitudes at night. It's also a common addition on well equipped IFR fixed wing aircraft too...like your friend's 340.

    I wouldn't expect it to be very common on fixed wing LEO aircraft because many of them are mainly VFR operated. There would be no reason for them to have a radar altimeter.
