I just returned from a trip to Dallas for this past week. I drove from Cincinnati to Dallas....stayed in Dallas for about a week....and then drove back from Dallas to Cincinnati.
I encountered MORE police radar/laser in the Dallas area during a few days this past week...than I did the entire trip down to AND back from (through Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and north Texas). Matter of fact, one week in north Dallas seems to equal an entire month or longer in the greater Cincinnati/northern Kentucky area as far as cops obtaining speed readings goes.
One thing I noticed, is that around Cincinnati and other areas....you still see other cars with radar detectors - it's just not "all that" common (i.e. - maybe one every 25 to 30 cars). But in Dallas, I saw perhaps about one in every 10 or so! They are definitely much more prominent. I remember one stretch on 75 Central where I was SURROUNDED by cars with radar detectors! I swear, I think every detector other than an Escort was represented during that one instance. The guy in front of me had a Valentine, one guy beside me had a Bel, the guy on the other side had a Whistler, and the guy behind me had a Cobra (I looked when I passed him).
And on the last day of the month (May 31st)....on one 5 mile stretch of 75 Central just north of LBJ 635 running north towards McKinney (just north of Plano)....I passed (no kidding) about TWELVE cops --- ALL waiting for or engaged in traffic stops!!! There was about 4 motorcycle cops (1 had someone pulled over, the other 3 were "waiting"), and at least half a dozen or more "cruisers" --- some that had people pulled over already, while the others were simply "waiting".
Now I see why outrun (Jason) has such good success shooting videos of cops shooting radar and laser. You definitely don't have to look hard or for long to find it. Dallas is one area that having a detector and watching your speed is not only good advice, but almost a requirement!!!
