Had the x50 for a week and a half, has performed top notch in highway mode. Sub par in city mode in NJ. Now have a v1 to compare against it. Didn't false as much as I thought on a short drive, one more false than X50, but the V1's rear detector had its falses on top of its front falses..
A regular everyday false that shows up on the x50 is pretty much an orgy on the V1, like 5 bogeys, arrows going everywhich way, little over the top, while the X50 responds with a radar response onsight and leaves it at that-short n sweet. So much for the Arrows in town, worthless.
Haven't driven much for a full out comparison but I can start with construction. The last review I've read had the V1 with a metal case(thats the real reason I see for the price over the 8500, quality,) Too bad the V1 is crap plastic, what the hell am I really buying other than arrow and the falses.
So right off the bat I was disappointed with a plastic case that really wasn't even as solid as the escort out of the box. V1 feels lighter with two detectors than the X50 as one.
V1 should stop including all the BS visor mounts, direct wire kits, suction cups etc, and make the freakin thing $340.
I'm a little surprised this is not mentioned at all, bs parts..
