    Default Hardwire help!!!

I'm having trouble hardwiring my X50 in my Jeep Liberty. I've chosen to run it off the stereo's 12v power. So I spliced into the yellow wire (MAIN POWER) and the black wire (GROUND). The thing powers up with the car off for some reason. I do NOT want this to happen. My cig lighter is 6v and is always on so that's not an option. Can anyone suggest a solution here as to why I'm getting power with the key not in?

You tapped into the wrong wire. The stereo has 2 power wires, one always on to keep the memory settings, and another that powers the unit from the accessory circuit. Find the circuit that is switched from the key going into the radio and that's your circuit.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

BINGO!!! that solved it...cant believe I didn't think about that one. Thanks a million. Now I'm all set, maybe I'll post some pics of the install in a bit...I gotta go get a new 3M fastener to splice into that wire since the original one is still on the yellow wire and it's not a good idea to remove them once they're there.

I did the same thing you have to tap into the black ground obviously, and you have 3 choices for power:

    1) Yellow = 12V constant

    2) Red = Ignition switched 12V+

    3) Blue/White = Switch 12V+ Trigger (The Amp turn-on lead)

I chose #3 but 2 or 3 works the best

There is also I think maybe a 4th way is to tap the Blue 12V+ Power Antenna trigger but I think that will only work when using the tuner mode (radio) for you 3 would work better so that you dont have to buy another wire tap (unless you have an amp in your system)
