    Default Laser Signal Repeater

    Dear all,

I am new to this forum, and owning a X50 for half a year. I always mount right below the mirror like most of you guys do.

I got a ticket from laser a while ago, and the X50 gave no warning whatsoever...

Would it be possible to make a laser signal repeater that mounts next to the license plate, and replicate the signal right in front of the X50? I am thinking even a long optical cable would do the job? I hope you guys gets my idea....

That way, I can mount the X50 high to maintain the good reception of radar, while keeping the good reception of Laser too?

Any comment, please say so

    Cheers!

Hmmm. Thinking outside the "box". That seems like it just could work but you might need some kind of focused lens on the sensing end to collect the beam. I like the way you are thinking though.

You are welcome , You are right about the optic cable .

    But 2 questions arise :

    1) Still , being able to recieve the alert = it is mostly too late ... ticket announcer.

    2) Regular optic cable have a high loss at 905nm , infrared , you need specilialized cable called ''low OH '' which are quite expensive . I tried this way , recieved many samples but really quite complicated to implement .
It works = transmitting the signal but keeping all the input/output at the right place is a huge job.

Finally a good jammer is the way to go , and Roy can help you get one ... with some veil , makes an excellent cocktail

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

I know a jammer is the way to go.... but I don't have the money to spend on that yet... that's why I am thinking at least a "ticket announcer" or "possible chance to get the scatter" would make the X50 more worthwhile...

Maybe a modified IR repeater you can get from Audio shop would do the job too don't u think? I guess by swapping the IR reciever to 904nm and sender IR LED to 904nm, it would work?

Just found this website that contains quite a few DIY circuit that might come in handy...

    http://www.bcae1.com/circuits.htm

This is what I am thinking about.... anyone with a EE mind could tell me if this could work if the IR sensor is 904nm type, and transmitting IR is also 904nm type?

Scatter would better be received by the current location of your RD (High)
Like the project though ..what do you estimate the cost?

excellent idea in theory but I doubt it would work or be effective. Leave the engineering to the professionals, i trust them more than my own inventions.

if you want a detector with better laser detection, the V1 is supposed to be a lot better than the 8500 X50. Sell your detector for around 300, then spend an extra 100 for the valentine.

Since all the parts are just standard stuff you could get in stores like RS... I would guess it should be about $15-20 for the above circuit. (Not sure about the 904nm IR LEDs and reciever though...)

Might give it a try in July when I am on holiday....
I will update this post once I get something done~ Watch this space :P

Yea, quite true, but I am a bit tight on cash at the moment :?

But then I might as well save up for a LPP... then I don't have to worry about the laser detection on the x50 then :P

Could this circuit possibly work as a Jammer? in theory, its repeating exactly what it is recieving, so would it be able to repeat the pulses of a laser gun? Jimbonzzz or happya$$ any opinions?
