    Default VERY INTERESTING!!!!!

Ok guys this is really starting to urke me and making me wonder what's really going on. Many of you prolly read my last topic about my "first experience w/ the x50". Anyway i was out last night, also this morning, and to make a long story short, i passed like 2 cops last night and 1 this morning and the rd didn't even make a hissing noise!!! :? Now it's kind of hard to believe that all those cops didn't have their radars going. Not saying that's not possible b/c anything is possible. I'm just saying it's not likely that that would happen. I'm just wondering if there is something wrong with the unit picking up signals? However, it does pick up signals.... i.e. X band and K band (a lil) but not when it comes down to cops being close by or even near me.

I am new at all this rd stuff so if anyone has some input please share with me. I'm worried that it may be defected!!!!

I believe it is only 30% of all cops have radar. In my city I would say that is about right 1 to 3 cars have radar. Believe me, if they are running radar the x50 will let you know. If your radar was broken, it would let you know and go into Self Cal, at that point you would know somthings is wrong with the unit. No need to worry bro.

O Seattle city cops have radar because they are much too busy with other calls. Only the state troopers and sheriffs have the radar.

Not to mention you can't even speed in Seattle LOL. It's always bumper to bumper. That's why I drive to Yakima to film the videos.

I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
Depending on where you live, some departments have patrol units that don't even carry radar, since they have a traffic unit that does. Sometimes certain units will "check" one out for the shift. I passed 3 deputies in a row yesterday, and none of them had a radar gun visible.

Not to mention instant-on seems to be more popular than constant, depending on where you live. If no one appears to be speeding, they won't turn it on.
I think this is just one of those situations where your still trying to "get a feel" for your detector and how it works. i think most of us have done that at some point when we got a new detector.

Just remember to pay attention to those weak, intermittent signals, unless you know 100% it's a false, so you don't get nailed with instant -on when you least expect it, then come back and tell us it didn't work right.

Don't sweat it, like everyone else said, not every cop has radar turned on. It'd be nice if it worked like that but unfortunately it doesn't. That's why you still need to pay attention. Some squad cars have built-in radar but some have handheld guns and/or laser.

If those three cops where intown cops. I wouldnt worry because their goal isnt to catch speeders. Thats what highway patrol is for. Fargo has 100 cops 3 shifts which is 30 cops a shift. You be surprised on how many calls officers get for other things. Shooting radar goes at the bottem of their list. Yes they all have radar guns in their cars. But they have more important calls to go on.

Sheriffs and the highway department leave their radar on. Where local cops leave it off. Which is fine by me. Speeding intown isnt my thing.

    Default THANKS EVERYONE!

Thanks to everyone for commenting. I'm i guess one of the members is right as far as me trying to get a feel for my detector to see how well it actually works. So i guess i can lighten up a bit.

I do have another concern however... i'm going to be going to VA in a couple weeks and i know that rd's are illegal. So i'm asking how does the stealth feature work on the x50? Or would it be best to just unhook it regardless?

Just keep it concealed. All VA has is VG-2 detectors so yours is immune. Also VA uses A LOT of constant on just ask WannabeStealthJamal
